Experience

John has specialised in insurance, and professional liability specifically, since qualifying in 1992. Prior to joining DWF, he was a Partner at Kennedys in London for 14 years, and latterly Clyde & Co in Bristol.

John has advised insurers and their insureds on a wide range of professional liability claims against lawyers, including those involving commercial and residential property, probate, tax, pensions, and corporate finance. He has managed claims against all manner of firms from sole practitioners to magic circle.

A large part of John's practice relates to construction claims, including acting for D&C contractors and professional project team members. In this regard, he has handled claims arising out of major commercial and public projects.

John has considerable experience managing claims against 'traditional' professionals such as accountants, brokers, IFAs and surveyors. He has also managed claims against 'new' professionals such as business consultants, web designers, environmental consultants, estate and letting agents, and educational professionals.

He also advises on policy coverage issues and policy disputes, and regulatory and risk management issues.

John has a particular interest in defending directors and officers, and advising insurers on D&O coverage matters.
